Delhi's culture is very rich and diverse. The diverse culture and people consist of various cuisine, art, craft, dance, and music. Many Delhites love to dance in at a club which is part of western influence. The deep routed influence of Indian culture and western culture makes Delhi more fascinating. Being Delhi the capital city of India, where people from all over the country have come and settled. Therefore the culture of Delhi represents the culture of all the states of India on parts. In other words, it is a kind of synthesis and reflection of the culture of India, as a whole. Being the capital of India, New Delhi has also become the main center of politics, from where all the decisions are made and policies passed. Still another aspects of the culture of Delhi is the numerous fairs and festivals celebrated in the city. It is interesting to note that the culture of Delhi also shows influence of the people of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab, since these states border the capital city.

Today, Delhi holds the burden of additional population from other states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Uttranchal.

Communication and Languages

There are several languages in Delhi, which are spoken by various groups of people residing in the city. These languages in Delhi have been adapted from the different regions of India and they have blended smoothly with the city's rich culture. The Constitution of India has stipulated the usage of Hindi and English to be the two languages of communication for the Central (Federal) government. You will find a majority of people in Delhi communicating in Hindi. Hindi is the official language of Delhi.
